2022 Ford Edge
The Ford Edge fits into the compact crossover market, offering a spacious cabin and lots of equipment and tech options. For the 2022 model year, a new Black Appearance package is available for the SE, and the SEL now offers an Adventure Package. Other updates for the 2022 Edge include an optional center console-mounted safe and two new exterior paint colors.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Edge lineup starts with the SE. It has 18-inch wheels and LED headlights, and adding the Black Appearance Package gets you 19-inch gloss black wheels, different bumpers, and black exterior trim. Step up to the SEL for the optional Adventure Package with 18-inch carbonized wheels, all-terrain tires, and black and gray exterior trim.
The ST-Line stands apart with its black exterior trim elements, body-colored bumpers, and 20-inch gloss black wheels, while the Titanium adds 19-inch wheels and a hands-free liftgate. The ST is the performance trim and comes with 20-inch black wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and black and body-colored elements. Add the ST Performance Brake Package to the ST for 21-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and summer tires.
Engine (Power)
All 2022 Edge models except for the ST get power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine. It delivers 250 horsepower and works with Ford's eight-speed automatic transmission. The ST bumps up the power with a 2.7-liter turbo V-6 that puts out 335 horsepower. This powertrain has a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The base engine under the Edge's hood provides quick and strong acceleration. If you enjoy a more spirited ride, the ST's twin-turbo is even stronger and easily propels the Edge, even when filled with passengers and cargo. This small SUV has an agile feel behind the wheel, and the suspension keeps it well-planted on the road when taking tight corners.
Interior
The two rows provide comfortable seating for up to five. Even the base trim has dual-zone automatic climate control and high-quality cloth upholstery, but the SEL upgrades to simulated leather on the seats and adds power-adjustable and heated seats for the front row. The higher-end Titanium upgrades to leather upholstery and offers ventilated front seats along with heated rear seats. The technology in some 2022 Edge trims received an upgrade. It now comes standard with a 12-inch touch screen for the infotainment system. You'll get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at every trim level, along with Bluetooth and several USB ports. A nine-speaker stereo comes included on the SEL, which also offers the Convenience Package with a 110-volt power outlet and wireless charging. The Titanium makes these options standard and adds a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo. A navigation system is an available option for most trims.
Safety Features
Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced safety systems comes standard with every Edge. It includes automatic high beam headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system, lane-keep assist, rear-cross-traffic alert, and a forward collision alert feature with automatic braking. Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ is optional for all models except the SE, adding adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. Adding the Lux Package to the Titanium also gets you an automated parking system.
