We are loving the lineup of spring activities popping up this year in Dearborn, MI. Whether you’re a gardener, looking for something to do with your family, or just getting outside, there’s something for you.

4 Spring Activities You Can Drive to Near Dearborn, MI

1. Spring Perennial Exchange

It’s time for Dearborn to have their annual potted plant trade and swap meet. This is a fun and unique spring event in Dearborn where gardeners bring their potted plants with labels on them. Then, everyone gathers and swaps, or you can also just leave your plants in a designated area. Attendees will handle their own trades from there.

Many attendees bring wagons to carry their plants or buckets and bags. You’ll want to get there on time to give yourself time to talk to other gardeners and walk around the space. This event is from 10:00 am to noon on May 20th. It’s located at 13621 Michigan Ave in Dearborn.

2. Day Out With Thomas

Do your kids love Thomas the Tank Engine? Then you’ll want to head over to The Henry Ford at 20900 Oakwood Blvd on Saturday, May 6th. Get the family together in your new 2023 Ford Escape Active and safely enjoy the sun behind the deep-tinted glass. It’ll hopefully be a bright day for a colorful adventure on this interactive train ride.

This event takes place within the Greenfield Village area and will include play areas, lawn games, and plenty of photo-taking opportunities. There will also be live music and arts and crafts areas. General admission tickets for adults are $50 each for non-members and $17 for Henry Ford members. Tickets for children under 4 are $17 each.

3. Pop-Up Living History at Smiths Creek Depot

On Saturday, April 29th you’re invited to travel back in time at The Henry Ford. You’ll want to head to 20900 Oakwood Blvd, where the Smiths Creek Depot will be having a living history pop-up event. You’ll be experiencing what it was like at home during the American Civil War, particularly for women. The depot was actually built in 1858 and was an important part of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad System at the time.

There will be a range of activities happening during the event. These include home activities like cooking on a wood-burning stove and learning to make a potholder quilt.

4. Pink Up the Pace 5K

On Saturday, May 6 from 8:00 to 11:30 AM you can come on over to run a 5K or cheer on your friends. The race begins at the Dearborn Historical Museum at 915 S Brady St. It will go through the Rouge River Gateway Trail, which is a great place to check out in the spring all on its own.

Attendees will be wearing pink and many will be getting creative with this. This is the second year this charity race has been done and it’s a surprisingly fun time just watching and supporting the runners.

With so many fun activities to go after this spring, you may be thinking ahead to how you’ll get there. We know just how fun a comfortable and stylish new vehicle can make these adventures. Visit Village Ford today to see our selection of new cars
