2022 Ford Maverick

All Mavericks have a four-door crew cab and a 4.5-foot pickup bed, and Ford offers it in three different trim levels. The entry-level XL has 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, a black mesh grille, and black door handles. Step up to the XLT for 17-inch painted alloy wheels, a power tailgate lock, power-adjustable mirrors, and a keyless entry pad. This trim also adds D-rings and a storage cubby both included in the bed. The top-level Maverick Lariat comes with body-colored side exterior mirrors, integrated spotter mirrors, and it offers the option for a spray-in bedliner. Options for the whole lineup include the 4K tow package and the FX4 Off-Road Package. Ford's innovative Flexbed comes with all trims, featuring a multi-position tailgate, tie-downs that double as bottle openers, and slots stamped into the sides that make it possible to create segmented storage. The bed also features 12-volt electrical outlets.

The base hybrid powertrain for the Maverick consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor. These combine to produce 191 horsepower and get 155 pound-feet of torque. The Maverick is also available with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 250 horsepower and gets 277 pound-feet of torque.

The hybrid powertrain will accelerate the Maverick to 60 mph in just over seven seconds, while the gas engine will get you there in seven flat. When equipped with the available tow package, it can tow up to 4,000 pounds and handle a 1,500-pound payload.

Inside, the Maverick has a unique and innovative cabin. The split armrests are large enough to hold a one-liter bottle, and there's a storage bin under the rear seats large enough to hold tools or gear. Cloth upholstery comes standard along with air conditioning while bumping up to the Lariat gets you simulated leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Lariat also comes with a power-adjustable driver's seat and offers the option for heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Technology features in the Maverick include an 8-inch touch screen in the XL, which also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. You'll get two USB ports for the rear seat in the Lariat, and it also has an upgraded driver information display. The optional Lariat Luxury Package comes with two power outlets, wireless charging, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and the Sync 3 infotainment system.

Every Maverick comes with a forward-collision warning system, a rearview camera, and automatic braking. The XLT adds wiper-activated headlights and the SecuriCode keyless entry pad, while the Lariat offers even more advanced systems such as adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane-centering assist, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
