2025 Ford Mustang: Everything You Need To Know About the Next-Gen Pony Car
The 2025 Ford Mustang is the last domestic pony car in production with a V-8 engine, following the discontinuation of the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. The seventh-generation Mustang maintains its American sports car legacy while integrating modern technology and performance capabilities.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The EcoBoost Fastback features LED projector headlamps and 17-inch wheels, while the EcoBoost Premium Fastback adds ambient lighting with MyColor customization options. These trims are available in convertible form with a retractable soft top.
Upgrades on the GT Fastback include a vented hood, raised wedge decklid spoiler, and 19-inch wheels equipped with Pirelli P Zero PZ4 tires. The GT Premium Fastback and the GT Premium Convertible offer the 60th Anniversary Package, which adds exclusive 20-inch wheels with red aluminum center caps.
Enhancements on the Dark Horse and the Dark Horse Premium include a unique grille design with expanded air intakes and 19-inch Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires. Ford offers Matte Clear Film paint protection across all trim levels.
Engine (Power)
The EcoBoost models use a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generating 315 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm when using 93-octane fuel. These trims come with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The GT variants feature a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V-8 engine producing 480 horsepower at 7,150 rpm and 415 pound-feet of torque at 4,900 rpm. Adding the performance exhaust increases output to 486 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can choose between a 10-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching.
The Dark Horse receives a modified version of the 5.0-liter Coyote V-8, delivering 500 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 418 pound-feet of torque at 4,900 rpm. It comes with a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission.
Performance
Models with the EcoBoost engine accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while the GT achieves it in 4.2 seconds. The Dark Horse leads the lineup with a 4.1-second sprint to 60 mph.
The Dark Horse demonstrates its track capabilities with a quarter-mile time of 12.5 seconds at 115 mph, a top speed of 166 mph, and 1.07 g of skidpad grip. It includes performance features such as an electronic drift brake, a MagneRide damping system, 19-inch Brembo brakes, and an active valve performance exhaust.
All Mustang models include selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport, Track), launch control, and an electronic line lock for controlled burnouts.
Interior
The 2025 Ford Mustang's cockpit features a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 technology. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard, and a wireless smartphone charger is available. Drivers can select a digital gauge cluster design that mirrors the 1967 Mustang's instrumentation.
An optional Bang & Olufsen sound system adds 12 speakers and a subwoofer. The Remote Rev function allows drivers to control engine revs through the key fob. Select variants include heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Safety Features
Every 2025 Ford Mustang comes with Ford Co-Pilot360. This safety suite includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, Ford's Blind-Spot Information System with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a rearview camera.
